Koa Wood
Tiffany DeEtte and Timothy Allan first visited the Hawaiian Islands on their honeymoon in 2001. They were instantly enchanted with its incredible beauty and found themselves drawn back to make Hawaii their permanent home. With Timothy's years in stone, metal, and glass fabrication, and Tiffany's years as an interior designer, the two found a way to combine their talents and create together beautiful Hawaiian Heirlooms. With a passion for working together, they have no intention of hiring helpers. Each piece is created by their hands.
Hawaiian Koa wood, a species found no where else in the world, is the central focus of their work. The Koa they create their pieces with is reclaimed from dead, fallen, and dying trees. DeEtte & Allan breathe new life into this stunning wood, giving it the opportunity to live on and be appreciated as art.
DeEtte & Allan accent the beautiful Hawaiian Koa with tropical and exotic hardwoods, creating striking contrasts. Their style is an eclectic mix of influences from Asian, European, and American furnishings, although their primary influence is Mother Nature herself. No stains are used in their creations. The rich natural color contrasts and strong design elements make their work recognizable.
Wood is a living medium and never looses its ability to absorb and release moisture, causing expansion and contraction. Great care has been taken to kiln dry the wood. For proper care, please keep the pieces away from direct sunlight and heating/air conditioning vents. A coat of furniture wax as needed will help your heirloom live on for generations to come.
"I am honored that our creations live in the homes of those who buy them." Timothy Allan Shafto
"I feel so blessed that we get to work together, creating beautiful treasures, here in Hawaii."
Tiffany DeEtte Shafto, ASID
